Wanted: A Princess Leia action figure.
My brother is getting married in a week, and they wanted to have han solo/princess leia on their wedding pies (neither is much of a cake fan). A han solo figure we have, but my brother called me and said that he could not find a leia.
So.... anyone have some old star wars toys that i can borrow from? i promise to wash any pie goo off...

Birthday party! Ok, it seems that i suck, and was looking at a calendar of 07 or something.
The party will be Saturday, Jan 5, at 6:30 PM at Buca Di Beppo (I-40 and Louisiana) once again, you don't have to worry about gifts, just be willing to show up and chip in for dinner.
Please let me know if you are coming as soon as you know, by email or comment, so that i can get a head count and fret about it less. :-)
Anyone coming from socorro, let me know if you need a ride and i will point you at other people coming from socorro with the hope of working something out.
-Tim
Edit: it is the 5th, i managed to notice i screwed up, then screw up again in the exact same fashion. Because i suck like that. | | Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 | | 2:32 am |
Birthday Party I am going to be having another (can i still call it annual if i skip a year now and then?) birthday dinner at Buca di Beppo. Pretty much anyone who would be reading this is invited. As always, instead of a gift, i would just like to have people show up and chip in for dinner (tends to be about $20ish)
it will either be the friday or the saturday after my birthday (jan 5, jan 6, and jan 3 respectively)
if anyone has a preference for one day over another, please leave a comment or email me;

costumage so, i was talking to my mom on the phone today, and she asked me, "Oh, what is that costume that you have in your closet?" "oh, that is a Sailor Jupiter costume." "Well, it fits me, and i was wondering if i could wear it for halloween." My mom teaches elementary school. I can't stop laughing for some reason. @('O')@ Current Mood: Silly. News Flash, and stuff. I am now officially renting a house in ABQ with Daniel and David Baird.
the place is a bit messy, needs some painting and maintenance stuff done, but is ridiculously huge. It is located near the corner of Solano and Marquette (just SE of Lomas and Carlisle)
I probably will not start living there until towards the end of august, as my work is currently nearer to my parents house. However, i will start moving my crap in before the end of the month.
Also, this evening i went to wally world to buy groceries (man's gotta eat) and cleaning supplies for the house (because it is manky). I had a shopping cart piled full of stuff, and i had things rang up in two piles because i want my roommates to be somewhat responsible for the cleaning supplies, but they don't have to reimburse me for my food.
Anyway, the food came to $61.04
The Cleaning supplies came to $61.04
What are the odds of that happening? all products were chosen without regard to price, and some things were random selections on the way to the register... It was just kooky.

Scrounging Does anyone have a laptop lying around that i could beg/borrow/rent/purchase? All it needs to be able to do is turn on, find a wireless network, and operate a web browser. Preferably more than once.

Duluth So, Dan and i are in Duluth, Minnesota, and it appears he has the flu. Looks like we are going to be shacking up here for a few days, instead of driving short distances making the occasional stop for Dan to purge himself along the way..
On the bright side, they just had snow, and everything is all white and pretty; and the cloud cover and weather is keeping the temperature in the 20's instead of the negative windchills they had a month ago.
and the giant snow-covered frozen lake is very scenic.
anyway, this means i wont be swinging back through NM for a while longer.

memorable bits from last night: 1.) A early ninties cavalier/sunfire pushing a minivan down central at ~ 30 mph. on ice. Every so often, they would seperate, and then carefully match speeds again. i don't know if i was appalled or impressed. 2.) Me: What are our chances of driving home tonight? Cop: Not better than your chances of going to jail. 3.) Cute girl standing in a doorway drinking a soda directly underneath one of the fire alarms in the hotel at ~ 3:20 AM, completely ignoring the strobing light and horrendous noise because it was easier to deal with than standing outside in a frozen parking lot. 4.) My mom, to me: "I did not know you liked chick flicks." touche, mom. touche. Current Mood: lethargic | | 9:49 am |
mmmm snow So,southwest started landing flights again yesterday evening,so i drove to town last night to pick up my brother and his gf from the airport. Albuquerque was all snowpacked/icy, with the added bonus of heavy fog near the interstate. we then drove to tramway/central where we found out that the state police had closed 66 ~10 minutes before we arrived. It seems they wanted to route semis through it, and they chose to inconvenience the people who lived there rather than the shipments of t-shirts and cheap plastic toys headed to wal-marts east of here. woo. So, we started driving west again. My mother, who was along for the ride because i had taken her automobile, did not want to go to my apartment because it was 'all the way across town' and in that fog bank i had mentioned earlier. so, we started looking for a hotel. turns out that all the hotels were booked east of louisiana (the road, not the state), we ended up getting the second-to-the-last room at an ameri-suites near the malls. We got settled in and to bed by ~2AM (my brother's flight landed at 11:05). At about 3:15AM the fire alarm went off. After the entire contents of the hotel sat outside in their pajamawear for a while(in the very cold), then milled back into the lobby for a while, the fire department (who's response time impressed me, it took almost as long for me to find my pants and get out of my hotel room as it took the fire engines to get here (i always wanted to see a ladder truck)) let us know that a space heater in the hallway on the 2nd floor had dust on it, and made some nice smoke smell. so, we all piled back into our rooms and went to sleep. The end. -Tim Current Mood: sleepy | | Saturday, December 30th, 2006 | | 11:29 am |
Snowed in, it seems. The official amount of snow on my car: 17"
And it is still snowing. On the bright side, i probably don't have to deal with picking my brother up from the airport this evening; Southwest is still cancelling flights incoming to ABQ.
Also on the bright side: it is very very pretty here.
Though it might be next week (more snow on tuesday?) before i get my car out of my parent's driveway. Yay for boredom and free food.

Options. Tonight i was forced to make a decision with only two options. i could: a.) lie to a police officer and drive home (to my parent's house) or b.) tell to the truth to a police officer, sit in my car for another 3 hours, and then have to drive back to my apartment. granted, i suppose there were a few other options. like gunning the engine and plowing through the roadblock, or leaving my car there and getting some ice cream, or something. Anyway, because of some accidents over in Clines Corners, i-40 eastbound and hwy 66 from ABQ were closed. not just to through-traffic, but also to people who live in edgewood, tijeras, cedar crest, and on S-14. Despite the fact that the roads were clear to tijeras, and then only mildly snowpacked on N-14. Despite the fact that Clines Corners is MILES east of tijeras and cedar crest. You were not allowed through with 4WD, you were not allowed through with chains, you were not allowed through for any logical reasons.... but you were allowed through if you claimed to live in Carnuel. I suppose that is a prime example of our taxpayer's money at work; saving poor drivers from themselves. I wonder how long the 10+ police vehicles will remain at that intersection blocking traffic. Don't they have better stuff to do? ah well. @('O')@ Current Mood: annoyed | | Sunday, December 24th, 2006 | | 7:53 pm |
Best Job Ever. Well, it looks like i am getting one of the best short-term jobs i could think of.... A company in Albuquerque is hiring me and a buddy of mine to drive a car 30,000 miles between January and March to test a new sparkplug design. There may be some company-enforced planning to our destinations, but our routes will be largely left to our own judgement. If any of you have suggestions for places to visit, please let me know. We will be spending most of our days driving, so we can't really stop and relax and vacation at sites, but it would be great to have recommendations on where to stop for meals (and neither of us would turn down the offer of a couch to crash on, either). We are not allowed to go to Mexico, but we may be visiting Canada at some point. If you would not mind us stopping by to visit, drop me a line. i will let you know more as things get more structured. -Tim p.s. happy holidayness to everyone, as well p.p.s i will not be having a large scale b-day dinner this year, but if anyone is around and wants to catch a celebratory meal with me sometime between now and Jan 2, let me know. Housing So, my job ends at the end of the month (yay for grant contracts with set dates(not sarcasm, i am ready for the job to end)) and i found out today that my roommate wants me to move out "for a lot of little reasons" (all i know on the subject).
so, the end of the month sees me switching jobs and homes. any thoughts to where? The more optinos the merrier.

So, i was walking to my car and thinking of past things... of highschool and relationship stuff, of how memories of emotions both seem to fade and grow more clear at the same time... and i had this profound nostalgic moment, and dropped my keys....
and then when i squatted to pick them up, i split the seat of my pants, and mooned the whole world.
